Whether you simply want to relax and unwind, go walking or cycling, or take to the water, there is something for everyone on Barra and Vatersay.
The visitor information centre is based at Bùth Bharraigh, in Castlebay, where you can pick up maps and guides for various walking routes and other activities around the island.
Barra and the connecting island of Vatersay are famous for their beaches, so be sure to visit:
Heaval, the highest hill on Barra, rises to 383 metres above sea level and is located 1.5 km north east of Castlebay. Views on sunny days are spectaular. If you are feeling energetic and ready for a hike, follow this link.
The Isle of Barra Golf Course is the most westerly in the British Isles. The small, 9-hole course has incredible views over the Atlantic Ocean. Visit here for more details.
